TAFA: The Textile and Fiber Art List (www.tafalist.com) is a young organization that seeks to represent online businesses which focus on handmade textiles and fiber art. It was launched two years ago when Rachel Biel realized that many of her peers were struggling with the new demands of establishing a presence on the social media sites that were quickly becoming important places for all of us: facebook, flickr, youtube, etc.
TAFA: La Lista de Textil y Arte de Fibra (www.tafalist.com) es una organización que busca representar a negocios en línea, enfocando hacia la creación textil a mano. Fue fundada hace dos años por Rachel Biel, cuando se dio cuenta de que sus colegas tenían problema con las demandas de establecer presencia en los medios sociales, los cuales rápidamente se hacen importantes: Facebook, Flickr, Youtube, etc.
The response was quick and our membership began to grow. We started out on a blog format and by the end of the first year, it became clear that we would need a “real” website with a search engine and landing pages for each member. We now have over 400 members from 35 countries, mostly North America and Europe, represented.
La respuesta fue rápida y nuestra Lista empezó a crecer. Iniciamos en formato blog y al finalizar el primer año, se hizo evidente que necesitábamos un sitio web “de verdad”, con buscador y páginas de presentación para cada miembro. Actualmente contamos con más de 400 miembros representados en 35 países, la mayoría en Norteamérica y Europa.

We would love there to be a strong Latin American presence on TAFA as well, so Rachel invites those of you who have a professional presence on the web to join us. Rachel has a special place in her heart for Latin America as she grew up in Brazil (1962-1980), and speaks both Portuguese and Spanish, although she claims her writing is full of mistakes and to please be patient with her!
Sería bueno contar con una presencia fuerte de creadores Latinoamericanos en TAFA, así que Rachel invita a quienes tengan página web o blog profesional, a que se unan a La Lista TAFA. Latinoamérica guarda un lugar especial en el corazón de Rachel, por haber crecido en Brasil de 1962 al 80 y hablar tanto portugués como español, aunque alegue escribirlo con errores y pida que le tengamos paciencia.
